City of Rowlett
& Rowlett KRB
Our design
team provided Master Planning services to the City of Rowlett and Keep Rowlett Beautiful. We are developing a 4.73-acre
parcel of flat land into a multi-level environmentally sustainable educational facility for use by citizens of Rowlett and
School districts through out the Dallas region. The project is located in Rowlett adjacent to two schools in the Garland Independent
School District, Schrade Middle School and Steadham Elementary School. The mission of the facility is to teach our future
citizens the value of our environment and the importance of worldwide environmental conservation efforts. The project is currently
under construction and has been funded primarily through public grants. The energy efficient facility housing classroom and
offices will contain solar panels, a stone cistern for rainwater collection and a terraced amphitheater as an outdoor classroom.
Educational amenities will include sustainable energy sources; a windmill, waterwheel, and waterfall that will generate measurable
energy. Additional elements of the nature center will included a composting station, demonstration gardens, nature trails,
ponds, water features and a greenhouse and tree farm.
Rowlett Elementary School
Butterfly Garden-Garland ISD
We worked with the school administrators in redeveloping an existing but seldom
used outdoor area into a three- dimensional butterfly garden.The raised stone planters became the butterflys wings and the
multicolored "Pavestone" pavers resembled the butterfly's body. The garden serves as an
outdoor learning center for the science teachers and a stimulating multi-use area for the elementary school children.
